SHAWN PEEK, CPDT: Senior Instructor
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Shawn started training animals in 1992 at the Brookfield Zoo's Seven Seas Panorama. She earned graduate credits in marine mammal biology and animal training at the Shedd Aquarium through Western Illinois University, and become a senior trainer at Brookfield. While there, Shawn trained dolphins, seals, sea lions, walrus and marine birds using the principles of positive reinforcement. She also consulted with other zoo departments including elephants, rhinos, big cats and African wild dogs.
Shawn began working at Call of the Wild in 1997 in the day training program, and currently teaches SuperPuppy, Basic Obedience, SuperBasic, Intermediate, Front, Rally and "Wag It! Games." She designed and teaches Front class, and co-designed and teaches "Preparing Your Dog for a Baby". She also teaches private lessons, where she has extensive experience with behavior problem solving and pet obedience. She competes in AKC rally and obedience.
JASMINE HALDANE: ITE assistant and day training team member
Jasmine started at Call of the Wild in daycare in 2010 and joined the day training team in 2011. She fosters dogs from a variety of rescue organizations, and then takes them through Call of the Wild's training programs in order to make them more adoptable. Her current dog is a rescue border collie named Foxy. Jasmine is working towards trialing Foxy in competitive obedience and rally.
Meaghan Cunningham: Day training team member
Meaghan started working in daycare at Call of the Wild in 2015 and joined the training team soon after. She helped train service dogs down at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she went to college for Zoology. She is currently training her friend's dog to be a service dog and hopes to train more service dogs in the future.
