Shawn Peek

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Peek started training animals in 1992 at the Brookfield Zoo's Seven Seas Panorama. She earned graduate credits in marine mammal biology and animal training at the Shedd Aquarium through Western Illinois University, and became a senior trainer at Brookfield. While there, Peek trained dolphins, seals, sea lions, walrus and marine birds using the principles of positive reinforcement. She also consulted with other zoo departments including elephants, rhinos, big cats and African wild dogs.

Peek began working at Call of the Wild in 1998 in the day training program, and currently teaches SuperPuppy, SuperBasic, Basic Obedience and Intermediate group classes. She designed and teaches FRONT class, and co-designed and teaches "Preparing Your Dog for a Baby" and Rally classes. She also teaches private lessons, where she has extensive experience with behavior problem solving and pet obedience. She competes in AKC Rally and obedience with her Australian Shepherd, "Air Bud's Last Chance, CD, RA" (Buddy).
